One of the most familiar and well-known characters of the Christmas story, Mary models what it looks like to honor and obey God with our lives. She was young, only a teenager, when an angel appeared with news from God that she would be pregnant with Jesus, the Son of God. But rather than freaking out, her response is worth learning and practicing. She was available, humble, privately prepared, understood who she belonged to, asked for greater understanding, and was ultimately obediant and said “yes” to seeing God’s word and mission fulfilled.
