As we close out the book of Colossians, we read of Paul’s challenge to live a Jesus-focused life. He gives three charges: be devoted to prayer, clear in mission, and wise in action. We are representatives of Jesus on earth, and if we want to represent Him well, we should live the way Jesus did – the way Paul charges the Colossian church to live. When we are watchful and thankful in prayer, we’re actively looking for what God is doing around us and aware of the attempts of the enemy to distract us. When we live with a clear mission, the Gospel is part of every word we say and action we take. And when we let our actions be wise, we respond and react different than the world does, and point to how Jesus has changed our lives. We won’t do this perfectly all the time, but by the Spirit and grace of God we can live like Jesus.
